Investigator Initiated Research Award Program

About this program

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation’s Investigator Initiated Research Program provides up to $75,000 per grant, typically $50,000, for doctoral-level research addressing health-related knowledge gaps, disease risks, healthcare costs, health equity, or the implementation and evaluation of innovative interventions. Eligible principal investigators must hold medical or doctoral-level credentials and be based at a Michigan nonprofit hospital, university, or healthcare system. Applicants must first submit a concept paper and, if invited, a comprehensive proposal including research methods, expected outcomes, health equity considerations, budget, timeline, and supporting documentation; BCBSM employees and their immediate family members are ineligible.
