About this program

Genentech funds and supports investigator-initiated clinical studies (IIS) that advance understanding of its medicines, improve patient care, or generate new disease-related research within its strategic therapeutic, disease, and molecule areas. Unsolicited proposals from qualified sponsors are accepted through the IIS Portal, with Genentech medical science staff available to guide applicants from concept pre-approval through protocol and budget finalization. Applicants must be US-based investigators or sponsoring institutions, submit scientifically rigorous, well-written protocols aligned with Genentech’s areas of interest, and accept the sponsor responsibilities and program requirements.
