IRRF Postdoctoral Scholar Awards (Alston Callahan, Charles D. Kelman, Loris and David Rich Scholar Awards)

About this program

The International Retinal Research Foundation (IRRF) awards three annual Postdoctoral Scholar Awards (Alston Callahan, Charles D. Kelman, and Loris & David Rich) providing $35,000 in salary and research support for one year to support postdoctoral researchers advancing discovery, treatment, and cures for macular and peripheral retinal diseases. Eligible applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent with no more than three years of postdoctoral training at the time of application, be training at a U.S. nonprofit research institution (NIH excluded), and have a sponsoring faculty mentor performing vision-related research who provides a letter of support. U.S. citizens, permanent residents (Alien Registration card required), and foreign nationals with and maintaining a valid U.S. visa may apply; awards are made to institutions (no indirect costs) and require institutional compliance with human/animal research approvals and submission of financial and scientific reports. Applications (original plus one copy) are due March 15, with review by the IRRF Director of Education and final approval by the Board of Directors for a July 1 start.
