ISQ Student Project Award

About this program

Invasive Species Queensland offers the ISQ Student Project Award to recognise outstanding student manuscripts on weeds and pest animals in Queensland, with two awards each year per category (weeds and pest animals) for one undergraduate and one postgraduate winner; each winner receives A$400 and one year’s ISQ membership and ISQ may meet reasonable travel costs. Applicants must have undertaken the project while enrolled at an appropriate tertiary institution and need not be ISQ members; manuscripts essentially ready for publication must be submitted via the applicant’s Head of Department or immediate supervisor in response to the November call and received by January (results by May). Eligible projects cover a broad range of weed and pest animal science (e.g., biology, ecology, management methods, herbicide/pesticide chemistry and effects, monitoring/surveillance, modelling, impacts, economics or reviews) and are judged by a three‑member ISQ committee on originality, methodology, achievement of objectives, interpretation and clarity.
