2027 ISSLS Prize for Lumbar Spine Research

About this program

The International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, sponsored by the European Spine Journal and Springer, offers up to three competitive ISSLS Prizes of USD $20,000 each for outstanding original research in basic science, bioengineering science, or clinical science. Winning papers are guaranteed publication in the European Spine Journal, and one author must attend the 2027 ISSLS Annual Meeting in Montréal at their own expense to present the work and accept the award. Applicants must submit an unpublished, English-language full article simultaneously to the European Spine Journal and ISSLS Secretariat between August 15 and October 15, 2026, following journal guidelines. Authors must disclose substantive AI use, ensure the accuracy and originality of all content, and submit a separate Annual Meeting abstract if presentation at the meeting is desired.
