J. Franklin Jameson Archival Advocacy Award

About this program

The Society of American Archivists Foundation sponsors the J. Franklin Jameson Archival Advocacy Award to recognize individuals, institutions, or organizations that advance public awareness, appreciation, or support of archival activities through advocacy, publicity, legislation, financial support, or similar actions with broad, long-term regional or greater impact. Nominees must be from outside the archives profession—those directly involved in archival work (paid or volunteer) and institutions or organizations directly responsible for an archival program are ineligible—and contributions should demonstrate sustained, wide-reaching benefit. Up to three plaque awards may be given each year; selections are made by the award subcommittee of the SAA Awards Committee, and nominations require a completed form submitted by February 28 annually.
