James K. Langhammer Fund for Conservation

About this program

The American Livebearer Association offers the James K. Langhammer Fund for Conservation to support research, education, habitat restoration, and captive breeding or reintroduction projects benefiting threatened livebearing fishes. Applicants may include hobbyists, scientists, local stakeholders, and Indigenous communities with a serious commitment to livebearer conservation. Proposals must be submitted in English and include a title page, a project statement of no more than three pages, a justified budget, and an academic CV or relevant resume; student applicants also require a faculty advisor nomination. Applications for the 2025 awards were due March 31 and are reviewed for significance, feasibility, applicant background, and the suitability of the project environment.
