Junior Scientist Conference Grants

About this program

The Genetics Society offers Junior Scientist Conference Grants to support attendance at genetics meetings across three streams: Scheme A (up to £200) for travel and essential overnight accommodation to attend Genetics Society or Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings; Scheme B (up to £500, or up to £750 for up to two Adelphi Genetics Forum co‑sponsored awards for eligible registered PhD students) for travel, accommodation and registration at non‑Society meetings; and Scheme C (up to £300) for virtual conference registration. Scheme A is open to undergraduate, Master's and PhD student members and postdoctoral members within six years of their PhD viva; Schemes B and C are open to PhD students and postdoctoral members within six years of their PhD viva, with UK‑based applicants able to apply for conferences outside the UK but non‑UK‑based applicants restricted to UK conferences. Applicants must be presenting a poster or talk (abstract title and authors required) and upload a supervisor support letter from a current Genetics Society member including their membership number. Applications are submitted via the mySociety portal to one of the bi‑monthly deadlines (1 Feb, 1 Apr, 1 Jun, 1 Aug, 1 Oct, 1 Dec), should be lodged before meeting registration deadlines for Society/SIG events, and a maximum of one Scheme B or C award is permitted per applicant every two years.
