Junior Scientist Conference Grants

About this program

The Genetics Society offers Junior Scientist Conference Grants to support junior members’ attendance at genetics research meetings through three streams: Scheme A (up to £200 for travel/essential overnight accommodation to Genetics Society or SIG meetings), Scheme B (up to £500 for travel, accommodation and registration at non‑Society meetings, with up to two co‑sponsored Adelphi awards per year providing up to £750 for eligible registered PhD students) and Scheme C (up to £300 for registration for virtual non‑Society meetings). Scheme A is open to undergraduate, Master's and PhD student members and postdoctoral members within six years of their PhD viva, while Schemes B and C are open to PhD students and postdoctoral members within six years of their PhD viva; all applicants must be current Genetics Society members. Applicants must be presenting a poster or talk (abstract and authors required), upload a supporting letter from a supervisor who is also a current Society member (including membership number), and apply via the mySociety portal by the bi‑monthly deadlines; B/C awards are limited to one grant per two years and geographic restrictions apply (UK‑based members may apply for conferences outside the UK; non‑UK‑based members may apply for conferences in the UK). Co‑sponsored Adelphi applications not awarded are automatically considered for the standard Scheme B award, and grant recipients are required to submit a short post‑conference report.
