LAF Honor Scholarship for Inclusive Community Design

About this program

The Landscape Architecture Foundation’s LAF Honor Scholarship for Inclusive Community Design, established by Patrick Phillips, awards one $10,000 prize and a $5,000 runner-up to graduate landscape architecture students advancing inclusive, community-scale design in underserved urban areas. Applicants must be enrolled in an LAAB- or LAAC-accredited master’s program in the U.S. or Canada, hold a minimum 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate commitment or leadership in working with underserved urban communities; preference is given to those aiming for nonprofit or public-sector careers. Applications are due February 1 and must be submitted online with a photo, 150‑word bio, resume, financial aid form, two recommendation letters addressing community commitment, and an essay (≤800 words/2 pages); candidates are evaluated on academic performance, demonstrated commitment/leadership, and financial need.
