About this program

The Landscape Architecture Foundation awards one $25,000 Deb Mitchell Grant annually to support impactful research relevant to professional landscape architecture practice. Projects may address sustainability, climate change, resilience, social equity, health, biodiversity, urbanization, landscape performance, design advocacy, or related topics and must be completed within 12 or 18 months. Applicants may come from professional practice, academia, or research organizations, with preference for practice-academic partnerships; at least one principal investigator must be active in landscape architecture, hold an eligible landscape architecture degree or qualifying ASLA Fellowship, and demonstrate advanced English proficiency. Current LAF staff, board members, and committee members are ineligible, and awardees must submit quarterly progress reports and meet agreed milestones.
