Land and Climate Grant Program

About this program

The Land and Climate Grant Program, a collaborative initiative by the Open Space Institute and the Land Trust Alliance, provides funding for land trusts to develop climate-informed conservation, stewardship, policy, or communications plans. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 are available to support projects addressing habitat resilience, carbon mitigation, renewable energy siting, and community adaptation to climate impacts. Eligibility is limited to Land Trust Alliance member land trusts and affiliate state land trust associations that have been qualified under section 501(c)(3) for at least two years, with preference given to accredited or accreditation-seeking organizations. Projects must commence in 2025 and be completed by December 1, 2026, with a focus on equitable solutions for communities disproportionately affected by climate change.
