Latin American Scholars Grants

About this program

The Society for Latin American Studies (SLAS) offers up to ten Latin American Scholars Grants of up to £1,750 each to contribute to conference registration, travel and accommodation for scholars based in Latin America to attend and present a paper at the SLAS conference and to foster collaboration with SLAS members. Eligible applicants are independent researchers, PhD students and institution‑affiliated scholars whose address and institutional affiliation confirm a Latin American base; applications must be supported by an SLAS member and two awards may be reserved for early career scholars within five years of thesis/dissertation completion. Applications may be submitted in English, Spanish or Portuguese, may include caring‑costs in the budget, follow the November grant deadline (aligned with the SLAS call for papers), and successful applicants must register for both conference days and submit a 500–750 word blog post within three months of funding.
