About this program

Urology Care Foundation offers a portfolio of mentored research training awards to recruit and develop investigators across the urology pipeline, from medical students to residents, postdoctoral fellows and early-career faculty. Programs include the LEAD Research Program (three residents/year from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in urologic research), Summer Medical Student Fellowships ($4,000 for a ten‑week mentored project), Residency Research Awards (up to $10,000 for 3–12 months), Physician‑Scientist Residency Training Awards ($75,000/year for a three‑year embedded research period), Research Scholar Awards ($40,000/year for one–two years), and Rising Stars in Urology Research Awards (up to $200,000 over five years); awards fund mentored research, education, networking and salary support. Eligibility varies by award but generally targets medical students, urology residents, clinical/postdoctoral fellows and early‑career faculty (often within five years of completing training or starting a faculty appointment); several awards require institutional sponsorship or matching funds, LEAD requires underrepresented racial/ethnic status, and Rising Stars requires an existing major career development award.
