Leonard Norman Primiano Graduate Student Travel Award

About this program

The Folk Belief and Religious Folklife Section of the American Folklore Society offers the Leonard Norman Primiano Graduate Student Travel Award to support graduate students presenting research on vernacular Catholicism at the AFS annual meeting. Awards of $500–$1,500 cover meeting registration, travel, and lodging, with up to two awards offered annually and payment provided after in-person participation. International and domestic MA/MS and PhD students are eligible, but applicants must join AFS and its section, have their conference proposal accepted, and may receive the award only once. Applications are due June 15 and must include abstracts, a CV or biography, statements of purpose and expected impact, faculty support, and a travel budget.
