The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) awards the Lillian McDermott Medal to individuals who have made intellectually creative, notable contributions to the teaching and learning of physics, recognizing sustained passion and tenacity in improving physics education. The honoree delivers an address at an AAPT Summer Meeting and receives a monetary prize, an award certificate, and travel expenses to attend. Nominations must be submitted by others via AAPT’s nomination form (self-nomination is not appropriate), and preference in selection is given to AAPT members.
