LMS Early Career Fellowships (with support from HIMR and UKRI)

About this program

London Mathematical Society, with support from the Heilbronn Institute and UKRI/EPSRC, offers 3–6 month Early Career Fellowships to support mathematicians transitioning from PhD to postdoctoral positions, providing £1,730 per month plus an £800 relocation/collaboration allowance. Applicants must be UK residents at the closing date, have recently received or be about to receive their PhD, and normally start the fellowship after thesis submission and within nine months of the PhD award (excluding career breaks); fellows may teach up to three hours per week and otherwise are expected to focus on research. Applications are submitted via the LMS online form and require a composite Case for Support (CV with publications, research proposal with host rationale, ~150-word career plan, and host confirmation letter(s)), plus two reference letters (one included and a second, normally from the PhD supervisor, emailed directly to fellowships@lms.ac.uk); eligible visits must start between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027 and are adjudicated by the Early Career Fellowship Panel in March.
