National Tropical Botanical Garden offers the Loy McCandless Marks Scholarship, a $5,000 award to support international study at botanical institutions for well-qualified undergraduate or graduate students specializing in tropical horticulture, botany, or landscape architecture. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled at U.S.-based colleges or universities; international applicants cannot be funded due to IRS restrictions, and travel must commence within 12 months of the award. Submit one PDF to scholarships@ntbg.org by January 15 including a 1-page research description, proposed itinerary and collaborators, 1-page budget, 1-page CV with enrollment history, college transcripts, and two signed letters of recommendation. Only one Garden Club of America (GCA) scholarship/fellowship/award application is permitted per applicant annually; selections are reviewed by an NTBG panel and approved by the GCA Scholarship Committee.
