The Mechanisms of Cellular Death in NeuroDegeneration (MCDN) Research Grant, sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's Research UK, and the Weston Brain Institute, aims to unravel the mysteries of brain cell loss in neurodegenerative diseases. This grant program invites proposals from academic research laboratories and consortia worldwide, with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative approaches to understanding brain cell death mechanisms.

Eligible applicants include academic research laboratories and small biotech/SME organizations in collaboration with academic labs, with a preference for full-time staff or faculty appointments as lead applicants. Post-doctoral fellows can also apply as co-applicants with a full-time faculty investigator as the lead. The grant offers up to USD$1.25 million over three years, with a maximum of 10% for indirect costs, and requires annual progress and financial reports.
