Meta Research PhD Fellowship

About this program

Meta Research offers a PhD Fellowship providing two years of paid tuition and fees, a $42,000 annual stipend, a paid visit to Meta HQ for the Fellowship Summit, and opportunities to engage with Meta researchers to support doctoral research across specified areas (AR/VR, AI systems, HCI, security/privacy, networking, computational social sciences, and more). Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD program (any year) and propose research that directly aligns with one of the specified Meta research-area descriptions; applicants from traditionally under-represented backgrounds are especially encouraged. Applications require a strong research statement, selection of the most relevant research-area fellowship, and two letters of recommendation (one from the advisor); proposals are evaluated on research statement quality, impact, and recommendation letters. Application opens Aug 3 and closes Sept 20, references are due Oct 6, and award decisions are announced in mid-January.
