MGB-SIAM Early Career Fellowship

About this program

Mathematically Gifted & Black (MGB) and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) offer the MGB‑SIAM Early Career Fellowship, a three‑year cohort program (5–8 fellows) that recognizes and supports early‑career applied mathematicians—with emphasis on historically underrepresented perspectives—by providing complimentary SIAM membership, reduced post‑fellowship fees, waived meeting registration, annual $700 travel support to the SIAM Annual Meeting and one Activity Group conference, mentoring/networking, and expectations to co‑organize a minisymposium and present in a Workshop Celebrating Diversity. Applicants must be early‑career professionals who live and work in the United States and submit a CV (maximum 2 pages) and a 500‑word statement describing their commitment to industrial/applied mathematics, computational/data science, prior and ongoing DEI engagement, and intended contributions to and benefits from the SIAM community. Applicants must also provide names and email addresses for two recommenders; if selected as finalists, those recommenders will be asked to submit letters addressing the applicant’s actual and potential contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
