Microbial Pathogenesis in Alzheimer's Disease Grant

The IDSA Foundation, with support from the Benter Foundation, funds the Microbial Pathogenesis in Alzheimer’s Disease Grant to support research investigating infectious agents or microbial communities as potential contributors to Alzheimer’s disease and to build a collaborative research community around this pathogenic framework. Grants prioritize studies exploring microbial triggers (e.g., bacterial, viral, gut-brain axis mechanisms) and promote novel, interdisciplinary approaches that bridge Alzheimer’s research and infectious disease expertise. Applicants may be members or nonmembers, including established investigators, MDs, PhDs, clinical and basic scientists, and international/non-U.S. citizens; interdisciplinary teams are strongly encouraged. The 2025 request for applications is currently closed and funding that year focuses on expanding promising existing research and fostering alignment among established investigators; consult the program RFA for award amounts and application details.
