Modeling and Characterization of Rotating Detonation Injector Physics

The National Academy of Sciences is sponsoring a postdoctoral/senior research appointment at the Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey, CA) to computationally and experimentally characterize transient gas-dynamics in Rotating Detonation Engine injectors, combining unsteady injector flow modeling, experimental performance testing, and optical diagnostics to improve mixing, prediction tools, and passive injector designs. The award includes a base stipend of $67,000, a $3,000 travel allotment, experience-based stipend supplements for postdoctoral and senior awardees, paid relocation for those living more than 50 miles who remain ≥6 months, and group health insurance for awardees and qualifying dependents. Eligible applicants are postdoctoral and senior-level researchers; U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and non-U.S. citizens may apply.
