About this program
The Marketing Science Institute (MSI) offers research support funding for high-quality studies addressing topics important to its member companies, with preference for work aligned to MSI’s Research Priorities; awards typically result in MSI working papers and conference presentations. Applicants begin with a brief pre-proposal (maximum 1,200 words) submitted on a rolling basis; MSI’s Research Committee reviews submissions every 2–3 months and, if encouraged, invites a full proposal that must address MSI’s feedback. Faculty at academic institutions (U.S. and international) are strongly encouraged to apply; PhD students may participate only if a faculty member is included on the pre-proposal. MSI grants cover only direct/out-of-pocket research costs (no indirect costs, university overhead, investigator salaries, taxes, travel, conference fees or tuition) and require an interim report and a final working paper as conditions for full payment.
