About this program

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s National Coastal Resilience Fund (est. 2018) provides grants for nature-based and hybrid (“green‑gray”) projects that protect coastal communities while restoring and enhancing fish and wildlife habitat. Funding supports capacity building, planning, design, and on-the-ground implementation of actions such as marsh and wetland restoration, dune and beach rebuilding, living shorelines, reef restoration, floodplain reconnection, and other natural infrastructure. Applicants must demonstrate how proposed projects will strengthen community resilience to flooding and coastal hazards and deliver measurable habitat and community benefits; community-led projects or those with direct outreach are prioritized. NFWF uses its CREST tool to target investments where nature‑based solutions are likely to maximize both ecological and community resilience outcomes.
