About this program

American College of Surgeons offers the Nizar N. Oweida, MD, FACS, Scholarship to subsidize participation of surgeons serving small communities, providing up to three awards of $5,000 each to support attendance at Clinical Congress or to fund additional training or research relevant to rural surgery. Eligible applicants must be Fellows or Associate Fellows of the American College of Surgeons who serve small or rural communities. Applicants are expected to propose either attendance at Clinical Congress or a plan for additional training or research appropriate to a rural surgeon and to meet the College’s basic requirements and award obligations.
