NORD Rare Disease Grant Program

About this program

The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) offers competitive, international seed grants to academic scientists conducting translational or clinical studies aimed at developing new diagnostics or treatments for rare diseases. Funding supports generation of preliminary data on drugs, devices, or medical foods to advance future clinical research and attract government or industry support. Eligible applicants are academic researchers proposing scientifically meritorious rare disease studies, with awards evaluated independently by NORD’s Medical Advisory Committee using an NIH-style review process.
