O. H. Ammann Research Fellowship in Structural Engineering

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) awards the O. H. Ammann Research Fellowship to support original research that advances structural design and construction, providing an annual stipend determined by the endowment. Recipients are expected to conduct original, full-time research in structural engineering, may not work on other research projects during the fellowship, must submit a full report to SEI, and may apply for renewal prior to the next November 1. Applicants must be ASCE members in good standing (any grade) and demonstrate the ability to conceive and pursue original structural engineering research. Applications are submitted in a single online session by November 1 and must include a combined PDF (contact form, ≤500-word personal essay, detailed use-of-funds statement, research description and objectives, institutional acceptance ≤3 pages, 1–2 page resume), up to two signed recommendation letters uploaded online, and an official transcript sent digitally from the applicant’s institution to sei@asce.org.
