OTA Research Foundation Direct Gift Recipient Grants

About this program

OTA Research Foundation (Occupational Therapy Australia) offers Direct Gift Recipient Grants to support occupational therapy research and researcher career development, with priority for emerging researchers or those with interrupted track records; up to $14,800 is available for distribution in 2025–26 and projects must primarily address an aspect of occupational therapy. Lead applicants must be AHPRA‑registered occupational therapists who are Australian citizens or permanent residents residing in Australia for the grant period, and must have been Occupational Therapy Australia members for at least 24 months prior to grant commencement (student membership acceptable) and maintained during reporting. If the lead applicant does not hold a PhD they must provide a signed mentor letter from an experienced AHPRA‑registered OT researcher (doctorate and recent publications); grants must be administered by an income‑tax‑exempt charity that is a deductible gift recipient (DGR) which will provide financial reporting, and any research involving people requires HREC approval (grants may be conditional on ethics approval).
