P. Allen Golson Scholarship Fund

About this program

The Community Foundation of Central Georgia administers the P. Allen Golson Scholarship Fund to provide college scholarships to students attending the University of Alabama who graduated from a high school in Monroe, Bibb, Peach, Houston, Jones, Lamar, Baldwin, or Spalding County, with preference for Monroe or Bibb County applicants. Awards are at least $500 each, with up to four recipients selected annually (at least one new recipient) and prior recipients eligible to renew for up to four years if they meet follow-up and eligibility requirements. Applicants must be enrolled at the University of Alabama, maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate financial need, balanced academic and extracurricular/civic involvement, and submit an essay explaining their choice to attend the University of Alabama. Applications are submitted via the Community Foundation of Central Georgia scholarship portal; the deadline is typically February 28.
