Pathways Out of Poverty

About this program

The Herb Block Foundation’s Pathways Out of Poverty program provides one-year grants of $5,000–$25,000 for educational initiatives benefiting disadvantaged youth and adults, including student achievement, mentoring, high school completion, literacy, GED preparation, vocational training, and job placement. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations recognized as 501(c)(3) entities that are located in or serve the greater Washington, DC region. Grants may not support capital, endowment, sectarian, lobbying, or partisan activities, and applicants must submit a Letter of Inquiry by February 3, 2027; full proposals are accepted only by invitation.
