Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences

About this program

The Pew Charitable Trusts’ Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences provides $75,000 per year for four years (total $300,000) to support early-career investigators pursuing creative basic, translational, or applied biomedical research relevant to human health (clinical trials are not supported); awarded funds are flexible for research needs but PI salary is limited to $12,500 per year. For the 2027 award one nomination will be invited from each of 212 participating institutions; applicants must be nominated by their institution and submit the online application. Eligible candidates must hold a doctorate, run an independent laboratory, and hold a full‑time assistant professor appointment (research‑track, adjunct, visiting, instructor, or similar titles are ineligible) as of Sept. 3, 2026. Applicants must not have been an assistant professor running an independent lab prior to June 10, 2023 (exceptions may be requested), may apply a maximum of two times, and awardees must attend annual meetings and file annual narrative and financial reports.
