Pilot Research Award in Liver Diseases

About this program

The AASLD Foundation offers a $50,000, one-year Pilot Research Award for innovative, hypothesis-driven basic, clinical, translational, or outcomes research in liver diseases, particularly projects with limited preliminary data and potential for high-impact results. Projects must be new, distinct from the investigator’s existing research, and feasible within one year; applications are due December 7, 2026, for awards beginning July 1, 2027. Eligible applicants must be AASLD members with faculty appointments at or below Associate Professor, commit at least 20% effort, and be sponsored by an eligible nonprofit institution in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Assistant Professors require an AASLD-member mentor or co-mentor, and NIH, FDA, and CDC employees are ineligible.
