About this program

Pfizer is offering up to USD 90,000 to U.S.-based accredited academic institutions to support one-year headache medicine fellowship programs that strengthen clinical practice, independent research, mentorship, and medical education, with priority for regions facing workforce shortages and healthcare inequities. Awards are made to institutions (not individual fellows) and funds may be used only for the supported fellow’s salary and benefits; overhead/indirect costs, institutional infrastructure, or allocations to Pfizer business interests are not allowed, and supported clinical time must not be billed as patient care. Eligible applicants are U.S.-based accredited academic institutions with established headache medicine fellowships, structured mentorship, and an independent observational or outcomes-focused research component (pharmaceutical product evaluation, basic science, and industry-influenced trials are excluded); proposals must not name a specific fellow. Prospective fellows must be MD/DO physicians authorized to work in the U.S. and eligible for UCNS certification upon fellowship completion, and all fellows must comply with transparency requirements such as the U.S. Physician Payments Sunshine Act; application deadline is April 6, 2026.
