About this program

The Foundation Fighting Blindness offers the Postdoctoral Fellowship Award to support two-year research training in inherited retinal degenerations (IRD) and dry age-related macular degeneration, providing $80,000 per year to enable innovative projects, mentorship, professional development, and networking. Applicants must submit a Letter of Intent and, if invited, a full application via the Foundation’s online portal; fellows are expected to take primary responsibility for application preparation with mentor support. Eligible candidates must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., D.V.M., D.O., O.D.) awarded within the past five years, not be in an internship or residency at the time of application, and be affiliated with an eligible domestic or international research institution (e.g., university, hospital, research institute, nonprofit). Exceptions for applicants with more than five years of postdoctoral experience will be considered case-by-case, and individuals from underrepresented racial, ethnic, and gender groups, as well as those with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.
