Pre-Clinical Research Request for Applications

About this program

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation supports 1–2 years of pre-clinical, non-human research advancing new or repurposed drugs, biologics, and medical devices for neuroprotection, regeneration, and plasticity in spinal cord injury. Awards provide up to $250,000, including direct and indirect costs, for pre-IND or pre-IDE development activities such as proof-of-concept, mechanism-of-action, pharmacology, toxicology, biomarker, and benchtop studies; full drug screens, IND/IDE-enabling studies, and clinical research are excluded. Applicants must be doctoral-level or equivalent investigators beyond the postdoctoral level from academic, private, or industry institutions worldwide, with one designated PI and no more than one application per PI, laboratory, or company. Applications must include data-sharing plans, use milestone-based budgets and reporting, and be submitted in English with budgets in U.S. dollars.
