Pre-clinical RFA Grants (pre-IND / pre-IDE translational research in traumatic spinal cord injury)

About this program

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, in partnership with Spinal Research (ISRT), will launch a pre‑clinical RFA (opening Q2 2024) to fund translational pre‑IND/pre‑IDE studies that de‑risk therapeutics and devices for traumatic spinal cord injury, emphasizing neuroprotection, regeneration and plasticity. Eligible projects include in vitro/in vivo proof‑of‑concept, assay development, lead optimization, mechanism‑of‑action studies, PK/PD, non‑GLP toxicology, biomarker development and benchtop device work; full drug screens, IND‑enabling (GLP) studies and clinical research are excluded. US and international academic institutions, companies and industry–academic partnerships may apply via a letter‑of‑intent followed by invited full applications, with milestone‑based awards of 1–2 years up to $250,000 total.
