Reed Rumsey Student Award for Advancement in Avian Medicine

About this program

The American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) awards the Reed Rumsey Student Award—funded by a $25,000 bequest—to support students in avian medicine; up to two annual awards of $1,000 plus travel to the AAAP Annual Meeting are available and awardees must present an oral presentation at the meeting. Eligible applicants are veterinary students, graduate students who are concurrently pursuing or have received a D.V.M., and residents or interns participating in avian medicine training programs; veterinary students doing research or case reports may also be considered. Applications (due December 15) must include a 1–2 page abstract of original research or a case study, CV, transcript or progress report, a 1–2 page narrative statement of career goals, and a supporting letter from a major professor or institutional representative confirming qualification; preference is given to nominees committed to careers in avian medicine.
