Research Access Grant (Student and Academics)

About this program

The Design History Society offers the annual Research Access Grant—£6,000 awarded across two rounds with individual awards up to £1,000—to fund essential design history research costs such as travel and accommodation for archive visits, interviews, library/museum visits, photocopying/scanning and library memberships. Ineligible costs include conference attendance/presentation, equipment, subsistence, higher-than-standard travel/accommodation, and transcription for interviews. Awards are open to DHS members (students and established academics worldwide, including independent researchers), limited to one application per person per calendar year; applications are anonymised, blind-reviewed and should not include CVs. Recipients must submit a 500–800 word report with a copyright‑free image within six months, acknowledge DHS in outputs, and apply by the recurring deadlines (31 January and 30 April, 11:59pm GMT) via email to the DHS Senior Administrator.
