Research and Career Development Awards (Skills Training & Conference Attendance)

About this program

The Medical Research Foundation (MRF) invites invitation-only applications from UK-based mid‑career researchers who hold an active MRC or MRF-funded grant for one-off Research and Career Development Awards to support skills development, new collaborations, and conference attendance. Two award types are available: Skills Training and Development Awards (up to £10,000) for training, collaboration and skills‑sharing, and Conference Attendance Awards (up to £1,500) for virtual or in‑person meetings to network and present findings; topic-specific total caps apply so applicants should contact research@medicalresearchfoundation.org.uk to confirm available funds. Eligibility is limited to invited UK mid‑career investigators at eligible institutions with an active MRC or MRF grant in the specified research areas (e.g., asthma, cancer, diabetes, MND, stroke); requested funding must be directly linked to and support the research area of the existing grant, and only one application per lead applicant is permitted.
