About this program
The PIDS Foundation, in partnership with the Academic Pediatric Association (APA), offers RAPID-PIDS awards of up to $15,000 for one-year research projects addressing infectious diseases affecting children. Selected scholars receive senior-investigator mentorship, networking and career-development opportunities, and support to attend the 2027 RAPID Conference. Eligible applicants are senior fellows and junior faculty in any pediatric subspecialty who have overcome significant adversity or challenges in pursuing an academic research career and can address these experiences in their application. Applicants and their selected mentors must maintain current PIDS membership for the PIDS funding pathway, and an initial letter of intent or proposal is due October 1, 2026.
