Richard E. Petit Student Research Award — Revisionary Taxonomy and Systematics of Mollusks

The American Malacological Society offers the annual Richard E. Petit Student Research Award to support student research in revisionary taxonomy and systematics of a molluscan taxon, providing one award per year of up to $1,200 (institutional overhead is not permitted). Applicants must be students and current AMS members; proposals should be substantial, developed with an advisor or mentor, and submitted as a single PDF named LastName_Petit.pdf containing a two‑page research proposal (title, goals, methods, timetable, publication plans, budget/justification, required permits; literature may extend to a third page) and a curriculum vitae. Awardees are encouraged to present results at the AMS annual meeting, must submit a short summary of research for the AMS Newsletter within one year, and proposals are reviewed for novelty and importance, methodological feasibility, clarity, appropriate use of funds, and contribution to the applicant’s development as a malacologist.
