The Foundation for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Foundation for PM&R) offers the Richard S. Materson ERF New Investigator Research Grants — $10,000 short-term seed awards to support research in physical medicine and rehabilitation, with recipients announced at the AAPM&R Annual Assembly. Eligible applicants are residents in ACGME- or OPTI-accredited PM&R residency programs or physiatrists within five years of completing an accredited residency or fellowship, and the applicant and/or at least one co-investigator must be a member of AAPM&R and/or the Association of Academic Physiatrists. Applications must be typed and submitted via the Foundation’s online portal by May 1 using the ERF application form and include a concise project statement with anticipated outcomes, a proposed budget (indirect costs ≤10%), a letter of institutional support, and a CV. Awardees are expected to commence the project promptly and submit programmatic and fiscal reports to the Foundation within 24 months.
