Rising Researcher Program

About this program

The AKC Canine Health Foundation’s Rising Researcher Program provides up to three years of support (via Acorn or Oak grant categories) to fund research projects that address significant canine health priorities and to advance early-career investigators’ professional development. The program is intended to foster independent scientific careers by combining research funding with structured career-development opportunities for postdoctoral and emerging researchers. Eligible applicants hold a PhD, DVM, VMD, or equivalent professional doctorate, must not hold a faculty appointment at the time of award, must be mentored by an Associate or Full Professor with an established canine health research program, be able to commit at least 50% effort to the project, and may not have other pending or funded CHF proposals.
