About this program
Biographers International Organization offers the annual Robert and Ina Caro Travel/Research Fellowship to support travel to locations significant to a biographical subject’s life or to relevant archives. Up to four fellows will receive at least $2,500 each in 2026. Applicants must be biographers anywhere in the world writing in English on a work-in-progress biography; memoir, autobiography, and history projects are ineligible, while non-print biographies such as documentary films are welcome. A publishing contract or BIO membership is not required, and applications are due February 1 with a project description, travel budget, anticipated outcomes, and author biography submitted as one PDF.
