Robert C. Tucker/Stephen F. Cohen Dissertation Prize

Sponsored by the KAT Charitable Foundation and administered by the Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies, the Robert C. Tucker/Stephen F. Cohen Dissertation Prize recognizes an outstanding English-language doctoral dissertation on Soviet or post-Soviet politics and history. The annual prize awards $6,000 to support converting the dissertation into a publishable manuscript and is presented at the ASEEES Annual Convention. Eligible dissertations must be primarily focused on Russia between 1918 and the present, emphasize domestic political history, be defended in English at a U.S. or Canadian university during the preceding calendar year, and be nominated by the dissertation supervisor by May 15. Nominations require a supervisor’s detailed letter and the candidate’s 700–1,000-word abstract; supervisors may nominate only one dissertation annually.
