The International Retinal Research Foundation offers the Robert Machemer, MD/IRRF Fellowship Award to support the early-career development of vitreoretinal surgeons conducting research on the causes and treatment of vitreoretinal diseases. One fellowship provides $100,000 in salary and research support for 12 months at a U.S. nonprofit research institution, with applications due May 15. Applicants must hold an M.D. or equivalent, be in the final year or first year after vitreoretinal/retinal surgical training, and have a qualified faculty mentor and sponsor. U.S. and foreign citizens are eligible, although non-U.S. citizens must maintain valid U.S. visa status; NIH institutions are excluded.
