Rosamund Shuter Award — assessment research in psychology of music and music education

About this program

SEMPRE (Society for Education, Music and Psychology Research) offers the Rosamund Shuter Award (from 2025), providing up to £3,000 to support basic or applied research on any aspect of assessment in the psychology of music and/or music education. Applications are open to anyone working within SEMPRE’s remit and are judged on the quality, originality and significance of the proposed research and on evidence that the applicant is unlikely to obtain funding from other sources; less-established researchers are normally expected to provide an academic referee. Applicants must submit the downloadable application form to the SEMPRE Secretary; awards are decided by the SEMPRE Awards Panel (applicants normally informed within six weeks), must be taken up within 12 months (or by negotiation), and successful recipients must submit a brief outcomes report (including ethically approved images) for posting on the SEMPRE website.
