RPB Career Development Award

About this program

Research to Prevent Blindness offers the four-year, $350,000 Career Development Award to support promising junior ophthalmology faculty pursuing independent, sight-saving vision research. The award is open to any vision research topic, including a Data Science variation focused on artificial intelligence and data science. Applicants must be MDs, PhDs, or MD/PhDs at the instructor or assistant professor level, with their first full-time ophthalmology faculty appointment within three years of the deadline and a primary appointment at an RPB-supported U.S. ophthalmology department. Candidates must be nominated by their department chair; nomination deadlines are June 15 or December 15, followed by application deadlines of July 1 or January 10.
