Sally C. Tseng's Professional Development Grant

About this program

Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA) offers the Sally C. Tseng Professional Development Grant, an annual US$1,000 award (which may be split among multiple recipients from a single project) funded by the Sally C. Tseng Investment Fund to support research- and program-related activities that advance a CALA member’s professional status, knowledge, and community contributions. Applicants must be CALA members in good standing, demonstrate commitment to library research or professional development (e.g., publishing or presenting at recognized library organizations), and note that previous recipients must wait five years to reapply with preference given to first-time awardees. Complete applications in English must be emailed to the co-chairs and include a ≤350-word cover letter outlining interest and project goals, a budget, timetable, three signed reference letters with contact details, and a resume/CV; the grant covers a one-year period (July–June) and recipients must submit a report before the next ALA Annual Conference. Deadline is TBD; successful applicants are notified in May and the award is presented at the CALA Awards Banquet during the ALA Annual Conference.
